 Affairs:

  • The Indian government is taking steps to help farmers get better access to credit. They've allocated ₹1,000 crore for a Credit Guarantee Scheme linked to electronic-Negotiable Warehouse Receipts (e-NWRs). This is part of the Digital India Mission and includes the e-Kisan Upaj Nidhi (e-KUN) program.

  • India and the US are teaming up to build Javelin anti-tank missiles together. This will give India a powerful weapon and strengthen the military relationship between the two countries. It also shows India's commitment to building its own defense industry.

  • There's been a recent increase in cases of a rare nerve disorder called GBS in Andhra Pradesh. This disorder causes muscle weakness and can lead to paralysis. While the exact cause is unknown, it often follows infections. There's also been some discussion about a possible link to COVID-19, but the risk is very low. The government is investigating the increase in cases.

  • Peatlands are like giant sponges that soak up and store carbon, helping to slow down climate change. But they're being destroyed by human activities. We need to protect them, especially by working with Indigenous communities who have been protecting them for generations.

  • India is doing well in growing organic farming, and this is partly thanks to the traditional farming practices of tribal communities. However, they need more support to get certifications and sell their products. Policies should be created with their input and respect their traditional knowledge.

  • The Haryana government wants to build a big safari park in the Aravali hills, but environmentalists are worried it will damage the area's natural environment and water resources. They are suggesting that the government should focus on protecting the area's wildlife and restoring its natural habitats instead.

  • New studies are showing that the world is facing a growing water shortage problem, known as "water gaps." These gaps are the difference between how much water we have and how much we use.

  • Coronal holes are like "wind tunnels" on the Sun that send out fast solar wind. This wind can affect Earth's magnetic field and even our weather. Scientists are studying these holes to better understand and predict their effects.

  • The Asia-Pacific region is working towards sustainable development, and communities are playing a big role. A recent UN report shows that local initiatives are helping to fill data gaps and address the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

  • The leader of Qatar visited India to strengthen the relationship between the two countries. They made agreements to increase trade, investment, and cooperation in many areas, including counter-terrorism. They also plan to make it easier for people to travel and do business between the two countries.

  • The Gujarat government has launched G-SAFAL, a program designed to help the poorest families in the state become economically self-sufficient.

  • Egypt is working on a plan to rebuild Gaza, providing an alternative to the controversial US proposal. They face challenges, including economic pressures and concerns about stability. The reconstruction will require significant international funding and involve establishing a new Palestinian administration. The success of the plan depends on the continuation of the ceasefire.
